Frequently asked questions
How is "reviews needed" actually calculated?
The math is: reviews needed = current review count × (target rating − current rating) ÷ (5 − target rating), rounded up. It assumes every new review is a 5-star, and it's exact for platforms with a genuine simple average — see how the math works for the full worked example.
Why does the number look different for Trustpilot or Yelp?
Because not every platform uses a plain average. Trustpilot's TrustScore is Bayesian and recency-weighted, Yelp algorithmically filters some reviews out of the count entirely, and a few platforms (Facebook, Booking.com, BBB) don't use a 1–5 star average at all. Use a platform-specific calculator below for a number tuned to that platform's actual mechanics.
Does this account for reviews I might lose along the way?
No — it assumes your existing reviews stay put and every new one is 5 stars, which is the best case. If you're also losing reviews or getting mixed ratings, the real number will be higher than what the calculator shows.
